Abstract

Many sites are now being constructed using Java based technologies such as Java Server Pages (JSP) and JDBC riding atop an application server.

This presentation will cover basic ECommerce site building strategies and then drive into how one may quickly put together components of an ECommerce site using these technologies.

Demonstrated will be a simple product catalog application using JDBC, JSP, and a handful of simple beans to showcase the ease and speed at which data driven sites may be constructed.

Speaker Bio

Sunil Khandwala is a Systems Architect with Xqsite divine, a member of the divine interVentures family of companies. Prior to being with Xqsite, Sunil provided E-Commerce engineering and consulting services to a number of companies, including the Signature Group where he was the Director of New Media. During his tenure there he successfully launched of one of the industry's first large B2C shopping sites.

Sunil's background also involves 15 years of Unix kernel and Real-Time operating systems design, where he was responsible for the development of advanced I/O and networking strategies including the development of raid software, clustering filesystems, and reflective memory technologies.

Sunil graduated from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology with a degree in Computation.
