Abstract

This presentation covers the use of the Moose File System, (MooseFS). MooseFS is a storage solution for use in a grid or cloud computing environment. The brief history of MooseFS and the purpose behind its creation will be discussed along with its use of FUSE and integration with linux based filesystems. Similarities between MooseFS and other *nix file systems are briefly discussed in addition to explaining how and why MooseFS fits into the IIT cloud computing environment. This talk will also discuss the distinctive features of MooseFS such as high reliability, dynamically expandable capacity, a file system level "trash bin", and coherent snapshots of files.
