How to Make an Old Computer Useful Again

Howard Fosdick

Tuesday Sept 25th 2018 at 6:30pm
Fountaindale Library Bolingbrook IL, Board Room (2nd floor)

Abstract

Howard has refurbished old computers as a hobby and charitable pursuit since the 1990s. He'll discuss --

  • The environmental benefits of reusing computers
  • How he obtains and gives away computers he refurbishes
  • How to fix and tune mature hardware for use
  • What software to install
  • Take-away: You'll know exactly what to do with that old computer in your attic or basement to make it useful again. And all will admire your intelligence when you spout off about your ewaste concerns at your next cocktail party.

As usual we will be having a "Meeting After the Meeting" for talk and drinks, and we are planning it to probably happen at the Rock Bottom restaurant in the Bolingbrook Promenade mall. The link goes to the restaurant's Bolingbrook website, but if you want a direct link to a map for directions starting at the library use this link.

    Bio

Howard Fosdick is an independent consultant who's worked as a hands-on DBA, SA, and advisor to major vendors. He's refurbished computers as a hobby since the 1990s.
