Linux file permissions are a fundamental aspect of Linux security, determining access to files and directories. Understanding file permissions is crucial for maintaining system security and access control.
This presentation will discuss the effect of read(r), write(w), and execute(x) permissions have on regular files and directory files. In addition, the importance of "Access Control Lists (ACLs)" will be discussed providing a more granular level of access management compared to traditional permission settings for the domains users, groups, and others.
Additional topics include a discussion on HIDS (Host-Based Intrusion Detection System) to monitor unauthorized changes.
Finally, a discussion of STIGs will be provided to enhance security.
This will be a virtual meeting on Zoom.
Our live meetings had been held at the Bolingbrook Fountaindale Library but we have been holding our meetings virtually since the pandemic began since March 2020. However, there is now the possibility of holding live meetings going forward but will be decided as each meeting is defined. Are you interested in attending an in-person general meeting?
Going forward UniForum Chicago events will be posted here on Lu.ma instead of Meetup.Com. Subscribe to our email list in order to receive an email notifications about upcoming meetings.
