Abstract

Open Source software has become a significant part of all software development, but it is still difficult to find a comprehensive source for all your options. The Open Source Developer's Kit (OSDK) has been created to provide a cohesive collection of the best Open Source software available for every aspect of software development. In addition, the OSDK includes installation tips, documentation and sample code. Some of the software contained in the OSDK that we will be reviewing in detail will be:

  • Eclipse - IDE that is the basis for IBM's Websphere studio
  • NetBeans - IDE that is the basis for Sun's Forte
  • Apache Web Server
  • Tomcat Servlet Engine
  • Threadworks - Java Threading libraries
  • Other software based on time and interest
