Creating Java Servlet/JSP applications
using the Tomcat Servlet/JSP Container

Abstract

This session will involve building an simple web application using Java Servlets and JSP pages. The session will include setup of the Tomcat Servlet environment and the use of the NetBeans IDE to develop Servlets and JSPs. The proper source tree layout and creation of an Ant build script will be shown. The session will include how to properly deploy a J2EE web appliation by building a WAR file.

Speaker Bio

David Lucek is currently a Senior Software Engineer with 3Com Corporation who has worked on many projects to include Authentication, Routing, Accounting, and Web Servers. His most recent project involves implementing Servlet/JSP based Web Applications for Oracle Databases. Prior to 3Com, David worked at a financial trading company developing custom trading applications.

Take 355 to Butterfield Rd (Rt 56). Butterfield West to Lambert Rd. Lambert Rd North to 22nd St. West on 22nd St to Lot 9 or 10 entrance. South into lot 9 or 10. Park in lot 9 or 10 and walk to the OCC (Open Campus Center) building. The meeting room is 128(d) which is towards the west end of the building.
