If you develop PHP web applications from scratch, you know that as applications gets larger, they get harder to manage, with or without objects. Symfony is a web application framework that uses the MVC design pattern to split data (model), view (presentation), and controller (logic) into manageable pieces. Jeff will discuss and demonstrate the features that get used day to day, and give some tips to get you up and running.
Jeff has been developing web applications using Symfony for the last year. He developed an object oriented framework using PHP 5 in the beginning of his current project, before giving up reinventing the wheel (again) and switching to Symfony. Besides PHP, he has programmed in C, C++, Java, Perl, Python, and other languages he doesn't want to talk about.
